Typically, professional certifications are designations earned by individuals to assure qualification for a particular job. Certifications document the competency of practitioners and bring consistency to a set of service providers. Certifications are often earned through the successful completion of a set of protocols provided by an independent oversight body, a trade organization or a professional society.
Financial education and counseling (FEC) services are relatively new developments in the U.S. and as a result, there are few national standards for delivering these services or for certifying the service providers. This webinar will describe several certification options that are specifically relevant to you and other financial education providers at AFI grantee organizations.
Obtaining a certification can be a good way to enhance your career by professional development and networking opportunities with colleagues and experts in the field. While certifications require time, resources and effort, they can help you learn new job skills, enhance your credentials and even provide “portability” to other similar jobs. Is it right for you? Join the webinar to hear a discussion about the types of financial education certification available, questions to ask yourself about whether to pursue and questions about the certification program. A Q&A session will follow the presentation where participants can share and compare their own experiences with certification. |
