Opportunity Fund

The Opportunity Fund is a nonprofit organization that has provided four AFI grants since 2003, with the goal of providing low-income households with the opportunity to increase their financial management skills, establish habits of saving on a regular basis, and invest in high-return assets.

The Opportunity Fund emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization, with the goal of demonstrating an effective approach to fighting chronic poverty among low- and extremely low-income households in distressed San Francisco neighborhoods. The fund has been successful in opening IDAs, recruiting participants, providing financial education, and purchasing assets.

Partners

The Opportunity Fund partners with the Center for Venture Philanthropy, Catholic Charities, National Hispanic University, DeAnza College, Start Up, and OIC to provide participant recruitment.
