Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida

Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida is a nonprofit agency that has provided one AFI grant since 2009, with the objective of building assets for low-income residents of Escambia County through homeownership or postsecondary education.

Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida emphasizes homeownership and postsecondary education, with the goal of assisting low-income people in Escambia County to achieve economic self-sufficiency by earning enough money to cover their basic needs and invest in their futures through savings, purchasing homes, and attaining college degrees. This grantee has been successful in integrating its IDA into a comprehensive program that includes life and employment counseling, mentorship from middle and upper class people, and social justice advocacy, with the aim to move people out of poverty.

Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida partners with United Escambia's Poverty Solutions Team, United Way of Escambia County, Escambia County School District, Chain Reaction, Move the Mountain, Inc., Aha Process, Inc., Manna Food Pantries, Appleyard Agency, Workforce Escarosa, Boys and Girls Club of Escambia County, Florida Department of Children and Families, and Escarosa Homeless Coalition to provide training, curriculum development, class space, and background screenings.
