Urban League of Anchorage Alaska

The Anchorage  Urban League is a nonprofit organization that has provided one AFI grant since 2009, with the objective of assisting people with limited means to achieve economic independence and greater integration in their communities by providing them opportunities to build equity or work toward higher education.

The league emphasizes homeownership and postsecondary education, with the goal of assisting people with limited means to achieve economic independence and greater integration in their communities by providing them opportunities to build equity or work toward higher education.

Partners

The league partners with Credit Union 1 to provide financial education and IDAs; Providence Alaska Medical Center to provide employment opportunities, tuition assistance, and child care for participants; the Andrews Group to provide technical assistance and management advice for the IDA project; University of Alaska Anchorage Community and Technical College to provide educational opportunities; Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to provide homeownership education and support; Anchorage Urban League Young Professionals to provide financial literacy training to young professionals; and Cook Inlet Housing Authority to provide support through its Homebuying Club.
