Effective AFI Project Websites: MassAssets.org

MIDAS is a statewide collaborative of community-based, nonprofit organizations that help working low-income residents in Massachusetts build assets and achieve greater economic stability. Their mission is to facilitate asset development of low-income families in order to complement public programs devoted to income maintenance. The MIDAS website, MassAssets.org, could serve as a model for other AFI grantees. It is user-friendly and has great asset building resources, including MIDAS in the news which highlights reports and news stories related to MIDAS, its partners, and the IDA industry. The MIDAS website also has a resources page which features valuable websites for asset building programs in Massachusetts. MIDAS also maintains a separate financial education website, MassSaves.org, which provides training coordination and resources for trainers and consumers. This website has a calendar of financial education trainings, resources for managing money, improving credit, building wealth, paying taxes, as well as resources in Spanish. The site also includes resources for trainers, such as best practices in training methods, integrated curricula, personal finance curricula, research in finance and economic issues, and a portal for financial education and Earned Income Tax Credit training.
