Celebrate Financial Literacy Month and Check out MyMoney.gov

On March 31, 2009, U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI) introduced S. Res. 94, a resolution designating April 2009 as "Financial Literacy Month." In light of that, the Treasury Department’s Office of Financial Education is this month’s highlighted AFI partner. That office coordinates the efforts of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, which works to improve financial literacy and education for people throughout the United States.

The Commission’s website MyMoney.gov provides useful tools, resources, and other information that AFI grantees may find valuable as they work with their program participants. Resources include information on financial planning, homeownership, paying for education, responding to life events, saving and investing, and starting a small business.
