HealthCare.gov Eases Access to Health Insurance Options

A new Federal government Web site, www.healthcare.gov, presents--for the first time ever--a single place to go for public and private health insurance options across the Nation.

Among the many features are:

  • An Find Insurance Options tool that greatly eases the task of comparison shopping for health insurance (public and private).
  • An explanation of how the Affordable Care Act can help you -- including a timeline of when new programs under the new law will come online between now and 2014.

The site includes data on over 1,000 insurance carriers and 5,561 open products (2,030 in the individual insurance market and 3,531 in the small employer health insurance market). Also included is information on every Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program in the country and information on the pre-existing condition plan in every State.

The Web site will add features in the months ahead. In October 2010, price estimates for health insurance plans will be available online. Visit healthcare.gov.
